FAQ
What is a Splashole?
- A complete Splashole set comes with two sets of rings and 6 Splashballs. Each set has a large ring and a small ring connected with a flexible line.
What are the rules of Splashole?
- Scoring and game play is just like that of cornhole, or bags. The only differences being 3 balls instead of 4 bags and you play in water! There are other variations (i.e. "balls out") and extra rules (i.e. "the 2 pointer") as well. First to 21 points wins!

Doesn't the game float around in the water?
- Yep! That's part of the fun of the game! Because of the movement of the two rings each round, and even each throw, is a little different! If you're worried it will float too far away, we offer special Splashole Anchors to allow the rings to move but not float away!
Can you only play in water or on a beach?
- Although the game is designed to be played in water you can play in a swimming pool, you can put the rings in a kiddie pool so you stay dry, or you can even play it on dry land (like a combination of cornole and bocce ball)!
What is the Splashball goes under water and reemerges inside the rings?
- We call that an "underdog"! Score is calculated at the end of each round! So wherever the balls are when all 6 Splashballs have been thrown that's how you calculate the score!
You mentioned variations and special rules, what are those exactly?
-
rules only allowed if both teams agree to them prior to the game start:
- “2-pointer” (Optional Play for 4 players): 2-pointer is the term used when instead of throwing the ball toward the rings, they instead throw the ball at their opponent standing near the opposite set of rings. If you successfully hit that person, it is worth 2 points
- Those two points are awarded regardless of the outcome of the round
- For Example: If at the end of a round Team A has two balls in the Large ring, but Team B has only 1 in that same ring but did strike an opponent with a “2-pointer”, Team A is awarded 1 point (2-1=1) and Team B is awarded 2 points.
- “2-pointers” are only allowed if both teams have agreed to them prior to the start of the game.
- “Speed Splashole” (Rally Scoring): If teams choose, all balls in the hoops at the end of a round count toward team score, rather than deducting from higher scoring team per round’s score.
- “Drink in-Hand”: If teams choose, players throwing always have to have a cup with drinkable liquid in their non-throwing hand
- “Balls Out”: In this type of play, the smaller ring is placed outside the larger ring, rather than inside. Scoring remains the same
- Or come up with your own "House Rules"!
Where are you based out of?
- Believe it or not, we’re neighbors and our base of operations is the garage of one of our houses on a Cul-de-sac in a suburb of Green Bay, WI! Kind of an unlikely place for a water based game... unless you've been to Wisconsin in the summer!

Rules & Gameplay
Who Throws First?
Traditionally, the youngest player takes their turn first. If playing with teams, the team with the youngest player will throw first.
How Many People Can Play At Once?
Splashole can be played with 2 or 4 players.
How Is Splashole Setup?
Each set of rings are set 20 feet apart. In 1v1, opponents will lineup opposite of one another and will throw at opposing rings. In 2v2, partners will lineup opposite of one another with opponents of one side throwing at the same ring.
How Does Scoring Work?
In traditional scoring, 1 point is socred for balls that end inside the large ring and 3 points are scored for balls that end inside the small ring. Points for the round cancel eachother out so the team that accumulates the most points will deduct the opponent's points from their score (i.e. if Team 1 scored 6 points and Team 2 scored 3, Team 1 will have accumulated 3 points for the round).
